On Sunday, September 24, 2000, noted author and Vaseline Glass historian, Jay L. Glickman, passed away at his home in Wyoming, Pennsylvania. The address for the family of Jay Glickman is: 598 West 8th Street, Wyoming, PA 18644.

The Victorians used the term "Canary" for what most collectors now call "Vaseline" glass. This unique glass is yellow-green in natural light, but uranium oxide in the batch makes it fluoresce under ultra-violet light. Jay Glickman spent countless hours studying the history and physical-chemical properties of his favorite glass. Since his book appeared in 1991, it has consistently been a best sellers within glass books.  In 1998, Yellow-Green Vaseline! A Guide to the Magic Glass was been made even better. Terry Fedosky, an avid Vaseline glass collector and a member of VGCI (Vaseline Glass Collectors Inc.), prepared an enlarged, updated edition which was significantly revised to include new information and many additional photos.
Jay L. Glickman was also the author of "Painted in Blood, Remember Wyoming: America's First Civil War" and was an avid historian.

"It is a sad day for all Vaseline Glass collectors. I have just received information that Jay Glickman, author of "Yellow-Green Vaseline, A Guide to the Magic Glass", passed away last Sunday evening at his home in W. Wyoming, PA. Jay was known as the "Granddaddy" of Vaseline Glass collectors. His book brought all lovers of the "Magic Glass" much-needed information. And we have come so far, since then! It was a great privilege to meet him at the convention in Kansas City, after several years of corresponding with him. He compiled pages of names and addresses of other Vaseline Glass collectors and sent them to me, so that I could contact them about the original Vaseline Glass Networking Newsletter. Although he had sold his collection to pursue other interests, Jay never lost his love for Vaseline Glass. He will be missed!"

"Oh, Terry, I am sorry to hear this! His book was something that I eagerly awaited and I know that you were very close to Jay due to all the correspondence and phone calls while you were updated and revising YGV. He was the first to gather all that information and pictures for us. Thanks, Jay, May your soul have peace. "

"I am so sorry to hear of the death of Jay Glickman. His and Terrys book have been my "bible" since I started collecting about a year and a half or two ago. I know he has been an inspiration to all of us and he will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and Terry."
